Music Composed and Performed by Jerry Fess

A friend of an actress friend of mine contacted me yesterday about composing music for a short film they just finished producing. The film is about 8 minutes long and is silent - which means it's all music. They want original cello music for the film - and I - being a cellist and somewhat of a composer seem to fit the bid. Sure 8 minutes of cello music perhaps doesn't sound like a terrible feat - but ya never know. Composing music for a vision someone else has labored over for months or years can be quite the feat. but I'm not scared-in fact I'm totally excited about doing this. I also just found out from the director that they are going to enter the film short in the Cannes Film Festival this March. WOW! What a cool project to be a part of! And being that March is a month away, they need the music done and recorded ASAP. They're wanting to fly me out to NY to record. Another WOW! I've just seen a cut of the film and have jotted down some ideas. I talk with the director in a couple days! To be continued........

Back to School

Well, I'm back in Macomb and all moved into my new apartment. Thank GOD the moving part is over. I started clases about a week ago and they're going just fine. I kinda like being back in school instead of working for the Man. Anyway, so begins my pre-pharmacy studies....

Reinventing

WHile visiting my parents for the holidays, I stumbled across the information that WIU offers a pre-pharmacy program. Pharmacology is something I've always had interest in and have studies on my own for many years. So, since things in Madison haven't been working out I decided to go down a different path: Go back to school to get my Doctor of Pharmacy!

I'll be starting at Spoon River College to cover some of the prerequisites, then in the fall I'll be transfering to WIU to finish my pre-pharmacy studies.

Within a couple weeks down here, I signed up for classes, found an apartment and got a part-time job! I'm really looking forward to classes! And I really feel good about this change. Of course, I'm not looking forward to moving again - but once it's over it's over.

After my pre-pharmcy studies are completed, I will most likely be attending school in Illinois for my pharmcy studies - not sure where yet.

WOOO!
